Cashmere 2018 Designs

Another successful Cashmere Collection Runway event! Fittingly, the event took place in October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, at the Arcadian Court, Toronto. Guests were treated to scrumptious apps and drinks, a spectacular runway show of haute couture designs made out of bathroom tissue, and of course, many photo opps!

Who would have thought bathroom tissue and haute couture in the same sentence! Kruger Products did and so the idea was born 15 years ago when the first Cashmere Collection was created.  “To imagine the impossible… a unique idea that bold, haute couture could be crafted from bathroom tissue” as Nancy Marcus (Chief Marketing Officer, Kruger Products) describes it. Since then, the Cashmere Collection has been used as a platform to support Canadian Fashion designers and is a true display of fashion with compassion. Over 180 designers, the likes of Hilary MacMillan, Joseph Helmer, Marie Saint Pierre, Stephan Caras, to name a few, have participated over the years.

Kruger Products is one of the top 5 partners supporting the Breast Cancer Cause through the Canadian Cancer Society. The Cashmere collection event raises funds for cancer research, education and awareness so that Canadians can imagine a life without cancer. Twenty-five cents from the sale of each specially marked package will be denoted to the breast cancer cause. Also, Canadians can vote for their favorite couture creation on Cashmere Facebook page (Vote Couture for the Cure contest) and for each vote, $1.00 will be donated by Cashmere, up to $10K.

This year’s event was hosted again by Beverly Thompson, breast cancer survivor and CTV Canada AM co-host. To celebrate the 15th anniversary, the theme was a sparkling one, a brilliant edition of crystals, hence, the name Cashmere Crystal Ball. One by one, gorgeous models sashayed the runway showcasing 15 breath-taking designs embellished with thousands of crystals. Featured designers included Andrew Coimbra, Mani Jassal, Claire Lemaitre-Auger, Candace Daniela, Di Carlo Couture, Shelli Oh, Atelier Guarin, FESVEDY, Maret Kendra, Marie Copps, House of Suri, Neya Couture, Oscar Mendoza, Maya Charbin, and ZOFF. This show was nothing short of at a high-fashion catwalk show. Elegant models and intricate designs from fun, playful, short, bouncy designs to long, flowing, sheer jewelled-encrusted designs – all made with at least 90% Cashmere bathroom tissue.

To end the event, thanks to sponsors, each guest left with a pink cashmere bag full of goodies, including Cashmere bathroom tissue. Cashmere, our bums thank you and we look forward to the big winner reveal and next year’s event!
